Extra Money In Fun Way

Many people are making money by selling on eBay. I was always interested in stories of people who make extra cash with part time businesses. I did quite few businesses on eBay mainly clothing. I used to buy from China and sell on eBay. Soon I figured out it's not working, as big sellers were selling really cheap plus people were directly selling from China and India. So I came up with an idea of selling used goods.I started selling house hold and used items, got rid of all my old dresses. It worked well. Hence I got the idea of using old but expensive and rare items. Luckily I found a car boot sale in walking distance from my home. So I started going there. My first time was the luckiest as I earned 20 pound on one item only. That gave me a push to carry on so now I never miss my Sunday car boot. Its not only money but also fun activity. I like the environment plus joy of bargains keeps me going on and on.

I won't lie or give false figures to run my blog and drive you crazy. I am still under process of learning, buying and selling techniques. Here I will not only tell but show you what I bought and sold So you gets the idea of market.

 Mantle Clock:

This old clock by Frenz and Hermle was my first purchased, bought for £2 and sold for £20.It was striking, repeating clock and was solid brass. Now many mantle clocks like these are available but those are plastic ones and also they don't have repeating feature.
Tips:
1-When you see a clock like this, open from backside and check if cells are not leaked, because if they are then 99 percent chance is the clock won't work.
2-Heavy solid brass clock will have more value then plastic ones, unless you are sure otherwise.
3-Open from backside and check if they are striking, repeating clock, if there are options present then it means it is. If not then it means its simple clock and does not strike on hour or half hour time.
4- Sometimes seller says it works, only needs new batteries, but they don't and in car boot sale you don't get much time to ponder so try to keep basic cells with you so you can check if it works or not.
5-If you have fast internet on your mobile then try to check quickly value of clock on ebay.

 Silver Dessert Plates:

My second item was a set of 6 small silver plates, they were not in excellent condition. But they look old and antique plus they were only for 50p so decided to take a risk. Bought for 50p and sold for £10.50
Tips:
1- Plates not only looks old and antique but it was a complete set 6 small plates and one large.
2- They were not silver so I did not mentioned them as silver sterling so keep clear while selling if they are sterling silver or just silver coated.

Old Mirror:

My 3rd item was a large old Mirror. Bought for £3 and sold for £6.50
Tips:
1-Do not buy heavy item in start as its very hard to carry them. They become a burden and won't let you see other things which might have more potential of selling.
2-Its difficult to post large items, you charge postage cost high and buyer try to avoid high postage costs.
3-Try to avoid mirrors, and crystal items as to safely pack them is not easy task.If it breaks in transit, you have to return buyer money.

Harry Potter Books:

Next item was Harry Potter book collection. Bought for £2 and was very happy when I was listing on ebay, as same as mine were on bidding and sold for £16.50 So I thought mine will be around that as well or may be more as they were in mint condition. To my surprise they sold for £6.50 only. Still sold on profit but I was hugely disappointed.
Tips:1- They were complete four books and in mint condition.
2- I checked before buying and new on Amazon were around £26 So I knew they will recover my £2

Miniature Clock Buses:

Next time while searching antiques in car boot I found miniature clocks in shape of car, bus and shoes bought for £1 sold for £6.50

Tips:
1- Check if clock in them working, as mine were not working and I realised after buying it.
2-They were solid, heavy and in good condition.

Mele & Co Jewellery Box:

Next week I bought a jewellery box with its outer box, in new condition. Although box was damaged. I checked on ebay and they were around 22 to 25 pound for new. So I bought for £3 and sold for £14.10

 Tips:
1- It was brand new with box and I checked it thoroughly.
2- Brand was Mele&CO, a known brand in jewellery boxes.

Taj Mahal Puzzle 3D:

I bought this for £1 after seeing it selling for £10. But I did not realised mine will not sell for £10 because box is in bad condition and looks quite old. It was sold for £3.99

Tips:
It was a large item to carry even though was very light but it became a liability and gave less profit because of box. So take care while buying puzzles.

Seiko Table Top Clock:

It was bought for £1 and sold for £4.99. It was working and in good condition. A very light modern plastic clock but looked great.
Tips:
1-Ask the seller if clock works.
2-Check youself if you have cells.
3-Check the condition of the condition of the clock

 Musical Jewellery Box:

I sold a jewellery box previously so I knew there value. I thought it will sell around £15 but eBay and bidding is not something to bet on. So bought for £5 and sold for £9.99
Tips:
Check every drawer if all in excellent condition.
Check if music works.

Water Fountain:

It was bought for £1 and sold for £7.99 on buy it now option on eBay. It was brand new in box.
Tips:
Check all the items described on box are inside like stones in this case.
Check its price on eBay before listing, New were selling for £12 so I sold for £7.99 in quick sale.
